These grants are suitable for people who are struggling to pay a specific bill due to a layoff, unexpected medical expense, or other unforeseeable circumstance. Applicants must be employed (30+ hrs/week) or unemployed for less than 2 months to qualify for this grant.
Examples: Types of bills that may qualify include (but are not limited to): rent/mortgage, utility bills, car insurance, health insurance, medical or dental bills and auto repair bills.

These grants are specifically for individuals transitioning out of alcohol or drug treatment, who need to make an important payment relevant to their recovery to stay on track and break the cycle of criminality and/or addiction. Applicants must be employed (30+ hrs/week) or unemployed for less than 2 months to qualify for this grant.
Examples: Types of payments that may qualify include (but are not limited to): rent for a halfway house, rent for a sober-living facility, fees to a Probation/Parole officer, court fees and restitution payments.
Applicants: Provide Your Next Step™ with official documents which verify your stay at an inpatient rehabilitation facility (within the last 4 months). Note: You must be in compliance with your probation or parole (if applicable) to qualify for this grant. This will be verified.
*Requirements for both grants: Submit a photocopy of the bill in question to Your Next Step™. The copy should include the account number and contact information of the merchant. Our staff will directly contact the merchant to verify the bill amount, the status (past due or otherwise) and the account holder. Also, submit the required documentation for the program for which you are applying. Requirements can be found on the "Apply for Help" page.
